Tulika Srivastava

Tulika Srivastava is a women’s rights lawyer with extensive experience in establishing and leading organizations dedicated to advancing gender equality. She is one of the founding members of the Association for Advocacy and Legal Initiatives Trust (AALI). She has previously served as the Executive Director of Women Fund Asia and the International Women’s Rights Action Watch Asia Pacific (IWRAW-AP). She is currently serving as the Executive Director of IWRAW-AP for the second time.

Huma Khan

Huma Khan is a gender and development professional with over twenty-five years of experience in India and various conflict and post-conflict settings. Her work focuses on the implementation of international legal frameworks for gender justice on a global scale. A lawyer by training, she currently serves as the Senior Advisor on Human Rights for the United Nations. She is also a founding member and a Presenting Trustee of AALI.

Dr. Nisha Srivastava

Dr. Nisha Srivastava is a former Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Allahabad. She has worked with the United Nations World Food Program as the head of the Vulnerability Analysis Unit. Currently, she is a visiting Professor at the Institute for Human Development, New Delhi. Her research spans multiple areas, including gender studies, social policy, employment, and poverty. She is also one of the founding members of AALI.

Rajashri Dasgupta

Rajashri Dasgupta is an independent consultant based in Kolkata, specializing in gender, health, social justice, and grassroots movements. She has been actively involved in peace-building and women's rights initiatives in India for over five decades. She has been associated with AALI since 2008.

Geeta Ramaseshan

Geeta Ramaseshan is a distinguished senior advocate at the Madras High Court, Chennai, with expertise in criminal and family law. She is widely recognized for her work in defending women’s rights and is a prominent commentator on gender issues. She has been associated with AALI since 2007.

Seema Misra

Seema Misra is a lawyer with over two decades of experience in legal empowerment for marginalized communities. She is an expert trainer and has played a crucial role in strengthening the capacities of legal practitioners and grassroots leaders. She has been associated with AALI since 2000.

Prof. Azra Musavi

Prof. Azra Musavi has fifteen years of experience in higher education and has demonstrated leadership in managing academic programs. With an interdisciplinary background, she holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a Ph.D. in Sociology. As a researcher and educator, she specializes in gender studies and women’s rights. She has been associated with AALI since 2017.

Executive Director

Renu Mishra

Renu Mishra has been leading AALI as the Executive Director since 2016. A seasoned lawyer, she has dedicated over two decades to championing women's rights and ensuring access to justice. Her expertise includes feminist counseling, casework strategy, and providing socio-legal support in cases of violence against women and girls. She also works on advancing women’s social, economic, civil, and political rights. As a technical expert, she consults for various national organizations, groups, and government bodies at both the state and central levels. In recognition of her contributions, she was honored by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2016 and received the Hindustan Times Woman of the Year Award in 2014 for her work in women’s empowerment. She holds an LL.B. degree from Lucknow University and a Master’s degree in Commerce. She has been associated with AALI since 2002.

Anshumala​

Coordinator – Women’s Leadership and Community Engagement Unit

Anshumala holds a law degree and has over 17 years of experience in the social sector. She leads the Women’s Leadership and Community Engagement Program at AALI and has been with the organization for more than 12 years. Her expertise lies in capacity-building for women leaders and raising awareness about socio-economic rights. She also oversees the development of Casework Centres to replicate AALI’s Community Engagement Model in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, and Bihar. She holds an M.Phil. in Women’s Studies.

Aalima Zaidi

Consultant – Casework Unit

Aalima Zaidi is a practicing lawyer who leads the Casework Unit at AALI. She joined the organization in 2018 and has extensive experience in facilitating women’s access to legal systems through social and legal support. With a feminist legal perspective, her work focuses on strengthening women’s autonomy, decision-making, and living free from violence. She is actively involved in building a coalition of pro-bono lawyers in Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.

Neetu

Coordinator – Partnership and Intervention Unit

Neetu joined AALI in 2020 and currently leads the Partnership and Intervention Unit. A law graduate with over 17 years of experience in gender justice and social equity, she specializes in capacity-building for communities and providing technical assistance to state-level stakeholders. Her role involves fostering collaborations with government bodies, academia, grassroots leaders, and commissions for women’s and child rights. She is also spearheading the capacity-building of grassroots leaders across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Jharkhand to amplify voices against violence against women and girls.

Sonali

Consultant – Finance and Funder Management

Sonali has a professional background in finance and governance, having completed a three-year articleship under a Chartered Accountant. She has expertise in auditing non-profit and government organizations, taxation, and financial reporting. Since joining AALI in 2019, she has expanded her responsibilities to include governance, proposal writing, funder management, social media coordination, and impact evaluation. She holds a B.Com (Honors) degree, an LL.B., and a CA Inter certification, equipping her with a strong foundation in finance, law, and accounting.
